Everyone froze.
Bruno was lying against the door of his kennel, his enormous head resting beside a worn-out teddy bear. The same dog who had previously bared his teeth at anyone who dared approach him was now letting out soft, heartbreaking whimpers.
The director knelt down and carefully picked up the toy.
